Benefits of Making Matcha a Must in Your Morning Routine

Though it’s long been a celebrated staple in Japanese culture, matcha tea has only recently become a mainstay in the U.S., and with all of the benefits packed into a tiny teaspoon of the finely-concentrated green powder, it’s no wonder matcha has become one the biggest wellness trends—here to stay.

Not to be confused with standard green tea, matcha is typically shade-grown in Japan, where fresh water and fertile soil provide the perfect conditions for the nutrient-rich leaves that are then ground into powder form. Though it can be an acquired taste, as the powder is extremely concentrated, the benefits are worth each gulp. Just one serving (nutritionally equal to approximately 10 cups of green tea) pumps you full of chlorophyll, catechins (the highest class of antioxidants), and amino acids, which help detoxify, boost your metabolism, and even reduce anxiety.

Thanks to the concentrated nutrients found in each serving, many find the tea to be a healthier alternative to coffee and other stimulants. Aside from improving concentration and promoting weight loss, some of the benefits of matcha are:

  • Cancer fighting properties: The aforementioned catechins, known as a potent antioxidants, contained in the matcha leaf may play a major role in preventing and reducing the risk of cancer as they activate detoxification enzymes in the body and help improve immune system function, which can repair damaged cells and prohibit growth of tumors.
  • Increased energy and performance: While matcha contains a natural form of caffeine, the tea provides an alternate form of stimulation thanks to the L-Theanine, which helps promote sustainable energy and endurance without the side-effects of nervousness and burnout typically associated with caffeine.
  • Detoxifies the whole body:Thanks to the chlorophyll found in matcha leaves, the tea can naturally remove heavy metals and toxins from the body.
  • Increases weight loss:The miracle tea is also known to burn body fat four times faster than average, while also increasing the metabolism without any of the harmful side effects associated with dieting supplements.

*Always consult your physician before adding any supplement to your diet.
